No casualties or damage have been reported.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe Russian air defense forces have destroyed one UAV flying toward Moscow,\u201d<\/em> Sobyanin wrote on Telegram at 11:55pm, just as Russian President Vladimir Putin\u2019s traditional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/russia\/630291-putin-new-year-address\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Year\u2019s Eve address<\/a>\u00a0began.<\/p>\n<p>Another drone was downed shortly after midnight, while\u00a0seven more were\u00a0intercepted between 2am and 4am on Thursday, Sobyanin said, adding that emergency services specialists are working at the crash sites.<\/p>\n<p>Flights were temporarily suspended at Domodedovo airport as a precaution.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n        <span><strong>Read more<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<figure>\n            <img src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" alt=\"RT\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/youtubexyoutube.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/6954ef9f2030271f1327f45a.jpg\"><figcaption><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/russia\/630277-putin-residence-ukraine-drone\/\">Russian MOD publishes map of Ukrainian drone attack on Putin\u2019s residence<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The incident follows another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/russia\/630267-moscow-region-drones-intercepted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">attempted drone raid on Moscow<\/a> the day before, in which Russian air defenses downed at least 21 hostile UAVs, Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov said.
