Any contact must be free of \u201clecturing\u201d and focus on \u201cunderstanding each other\u2019s positions,\u201d spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said<\/strong><\/p>\n Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to dialogue with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, but only if it is conducted respectfully and serves a clear purpose, spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.<\/p>\n On Friday, Macron said some countries have already established contact with Moscow, and that the Europeans and Ukrainians should find a framework to restart discussions \u201cproperly.\u201d<\/em> He argued that it could become \u201cuseful again\u201d<\/em> to speak with Putin, as without a structured format, the EU risks \u201cdiscussing among ourselves\u201d<\/em> while negotiators \u201cgo alone to talk with the Russians,\u201d<\/em> which is \u201cnot optimal.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n On Sunday, Peskov told RIA Novosti that dialogue should not be used for one side \u201cto read lectures\u201d<\/em> to the other, but instead focus on \u201cunderstanding each other\u2019s positions.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
