Investigators are probing a shooting in an apartment block in Tula, where Andrey Cherezov was the reported target<\/strong><\/p>\n Russia\u2019s Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case into the attempted murder of an entrepreneur in the city of Tula. RIA Novosti has identified the victim as the head of a company that produces drones.<\/p>\n According to investigators, the incident occurred in the early hours of July 29 as the businessman was entering his apartment in a residential building in the center of Tula, a city about 193 km (120 miles) south of Moscow. An unidentified assailant fired several shots before fleeing the scene. The victim was rushed to a local hospital.<\/p>\n Russian Laboratory of Air Transport (RLAT), the Tula-based manufacturer of Ovod FPV drones, told RIA Novosti that the victim of the assassination attempt was Andrey Cherezov, the company\u2019s founder, owner, chief designer and lead developer.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter 2022, he began developing drones based on combat experience, turning a small company in Tula into an enterprise with a global reputation,\u201d<\/em> the company\u2019s press office told the news agency.<\/p>\n Local news outlets later reported that Cherezov was returning home from work and had just reached the door of his fourth-floor apartment when the attack occurred. The assailant fired three shots at point-blank range before fleeing. The businessman\u2019s wife opened the door after hearing the gunfire.<\/p>\n According to Izvestia, Cherezov was being treated in intensive care and remained in serious but stable condition.<\/p>\n
