The attack near Gelendzhik killed at least seven people, including four children, as doctors treat dozens injured<\/strong><\/p>\n

Locals have described scenes of panic and \u201cwomen\u2019s cries\u201d<\/em> when a Ukrainian drone struck a crowded beach near the Russian Black Sea resort of Gelendzhik on Monday, killing seven people and injuring dozens more.<\/p>\n

The attack on the village of Arkhipo Osipovka sent vacationers scrambling for cover. \u201cPeople ran away. At first, they started screaming and began fleeing from there. I can still hear those women\u2019s cries in my ears,\u201d<\/em> one man who witnessed the blast told RT.<\/p>\n

No one expected such an attack \u201con a beach with children,\u201d<\/em> a local woman said, calling the strike an act of \u201ctreachery.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Russian Children\u2019s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova Belova said on Tuesday that a fourth child had died from injuries. Regional authorities earlier reported that 58 people had been wounded, 21 of whom required hospitalization.<\/p>\n

Doctors in Krasnodar Region said victims were brought in with complex mine blast injuries, including four children, two of whom are in intensive care. \u201cThey are receiving all necessary assistance,\u201d<\/em> Elena Kleshchenko, chief physician of the Regional Children\u2019s Clinical Hospital said, adding that initial treatment on the scene and in nearby towns had been \u201ctimely.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Acting deputy chief surgeon Aleksey Kovalenko at the Ochapovsky Regional Clinical Hospital said four of 14 adult patients \u201care in serious condition,\u201d<\/em> many of them with \u201ccombined trauma \u2013 shrapnel wounds plus burns.\u201d<\/em> The youngest patient is 19, while the oldest is 63, he added.<\/p>\n

In Arkhipo Osipovka, locals and tourists have been laying flowers and toys in memory of the victims, creating makeshift memorials. \u201cWe came to leave a toy. Children died. Unfortunately, we witnessed all of this,\u201d<\/em> one man said.<\/p>\n

\u201dI have tears in my eyes. I am a pensioner, and I feel very sorry for the children and the people,<\/em>\u201d an elderly woman told RT.<\/p>\n

Kiev has intensified long-range attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure in recent months. Moscow has described the strikes as terrorist attacks deliberately targeting ordinary citizens.
