Russia has the \u201cresources, means, and political will\u201d to stand up to any attempts to suppress it, the president has said<\/strong><\/p>\n Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the convention of his party, United Russia, in Moscow on Sunday, and gave a sweeping speech that touched on development, Western pressure, and global instability.<\/p>\n The convention was held ahead of the parliamentary election in September.\u00a0<\/p>\n Russia is facing a difficult time, with the entire world experiencing a period of \u201cfundamental and systemic transformation,\u201d<\/em> Putin said, noting the flare-up of regional conflicts and fragmentation of international cooperation.<\/p>\n New artificial obstacles that affect the\u00a0\u201ceconomy, technology, science, and\u00a0even culture,\u00a0sports and\u00a0humanitarian cooperation\u201d<\/em> are emerging, he said.<\/p>\n \n Read more<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Western pressure on Russia has reached unprecedented levels, according to Putin.<\/p>\n He went on to say that the Western elites are unable to \u201cinflict a strategic defeat\u201d<\/em> on Russia, and their efforts to destabilize it from within are proving ineffective.<\/p>\n \u201cConsequently, they keep supporting the\u00a0Kiev regime, which they have chosen as\u00a0a\u00a0battering ram in\u00a0their struggle against Russia, without any sympathy for\u00a0the\u00a0Ukrainian people.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n As Ukraine faces setbacks on all parts of the front line, it has turned to \u201cterrorist activities,\u201d<\/em> engaging in \u201ctargeted attacks on\u00a0civilians and\u00a0civilian facilities\u201d<\/em> and openly recruiting people to conduct terrorist attacks in Russia, Putin said. <\/p>\n The West, meanwhile,\u00a0turns a blind eye\u00a0to Kiev\u2019s methods, he added.<\/p>\nWorld in turmoil<\/h2>\n
