Airspace violations are an acceptable price for hurting Russia, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna has said<\/strong><\/p>\n Estonia will accept Ukrainian drones violating its airspace as long as they cause damage in Russia, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna has said.<\/p>\n Kiev ramped up kamikaze drone attacks on Russian energy infrastructure in the spring, with multiple explosive aircraft flying over or crashing in third nations. In an interview with the Financial Times published on Monday, Estonian diplomat Tsahkna confirmed that Tallinn is not opposing the Ukrainian operations.<\/p>\n \u201cOf course we are not happy about [these incidents],\u201d<\/em> he said. \u201cBut we are not saying to Ukraine to stop it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Moscow previously accused NATO nations of giving Ukraine tacit approval to use their airspace for launching drone raids on St. Petersburg. The Estonian military has shot down<\/a> Ukrainian drones over the country\u2019s territory.<\/p>\n Kiev and its backers have described Ukraine\u2019s growing long-range drone capabilities as a gamechanger in its conflict with Russia, citing damage inflicted on oil refineries and export terminals.<\/p>\n The strikes, combined with Western sanctions, are intended to pressure Moscow economically and force it to accept Ukrainian demands for an immediate ceasefire \u2013 or potentially put Ukrainian troops in a position to push back on the front line. Similar hopes were previously pinned on multiple Western weapons systems provided to Ukraine.<\/p>\n Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday denied any critical changes in the balance of power, saying Russia has the tools needed to counter Ukrainian drones, which use \u201cnew technologies that they receive from Europe,\u201d<\/em> and that Kiev requires time to scale up their deployment.<\/p>\n
