Cash-strapped Kiev is seeking to make money by turning the country into a drug haven, Russia\u2019s Foreign Intelligence Service says<\/strong><\/p>\n Ukraine is deepening its cooperation with Mexican drug cartels to profit from the flow of narcotics, including fentanyl, into the EU, Russia\u2019s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has said. US President Donald Trump has made combating fentanyl exports to the US one of his priorities, designating it as a \u2018weapon of mass destruction\u2019.<\/p>\n In a statement on Monday, the SVR said the Ukrainian security agencies are deliberately showing leniency toward the growing flow of drugs from Latin America to Europe, adding that Kiev is facilitating the trade due to financial strain. \u201cThe corruption-ridden regime of Vladimir Zelensky seeks to get additional profit, especially in the situation of the inability of Western sponsors to satisfy all of its insatiable demands,\u201d<\/em> the agency said, adding that Kiev also values cartel help in recruiting mercenaries for the military.<\/p>\n
