Gusev reported that air defenses intercepted <em>\u201chigh-speed aerial targets\u201d<\/em> over the city.<\/p>\n<p>According to the governor, the strike hit an industrial facility, causing <em>\u201csignificant damage\u201d<\/em> and a fire which has since been extinguished. The attack damaged a dozen apartment blocks, as well as six single-family homes and around 50 vehicles, Gusev said in a statement published on Telegram.<\/p>\n<p>Russian officials did not immediately identify the weapons used in the strike. Watch the front<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The attack came after the Russian Defense Ministry said its forces had intercepted more than 300 Ukrainian long-range drones overnight. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/russia\/641953-ukrainian-drones-moscow-nazi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dozens<\/a> of drones were launched toward Moscow, according to the capital\u2019s mayor, Sergey Sobyanin.<\/p>\n<p>Kiev\u2019s military effort continues to rely heavily on Western support. The EU has shouldered much of the financial burden since US President Donald Trump cut off assistance last year. <br \/>Ukraine has intensified long-range strikes inside Russia as its forces gradually retreat along parts of the front line and face a worsening manpower shortage.<\/p>\n<p>The deep strikes are reportedly intended in part to demonstrate Ukraine\u2019s ability to inflict damage and to encourage foreign backers to approve further multibillion-dollar aid packages.<\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory have repeatedly caused civilian casualties.
