Kiev\u2019s claims were part of \u201cmegaphone diplomacy\u201d rather than a serious effort to negotiate, Russian officials have said<\/strong><\/p>\n Moscow received no invitation from Kiev for talks on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, senior Russian officials have said, rejecting claims made by Vladimir Zelensky.<\/p>\n The Ukrainian leader told reporters on Monday that he had sought a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin during this week\u2019s gathering in Evian-les-Bains. \u201cEurope and the United States were agreed and Russia demonstrated again that\u2026 they are not ready to speak,\u201d<\/em> Zelensky said in English, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that \u201cof course, there were no such messages,\u201d<\/em> when asked about Ukrainian communications during a press briefing on Tuesday. He added that Moscow\u2019s offer for Zelensky to come to the Russian capital and negotiate \u201cin a responsible and serious way\u201d<\/em> to end the conflict remains on the table. Zelensky has repeatedly said that a visit to Moscow is \u201cimpossible\u201d<\/em> for him.<\/p>\n
