{"id":5392,"date":"2026-05-13T20:16:57","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T20:16:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/youtubexyoutube.com\/?p=5392"},"modified":"2026-05-15T19:32:38","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T19:32:38","slug":"ukrainian-conscription-gangs-snatch-workers-from-construction-site-mp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/youtubexyoutube.com\/index.php\/2026\/05\/13\/ukrainian-conscription-gangs-snatch-workers-from-construction-site-mp\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukrainian conscription gangs snatch workers from construction site \u2013 MP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Draft officers are engaging in \u201cbanditry\u201d that must be stopped, a Ukrainian lawmaker has said<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian draft officers have snatched several workers directly from construction sites, MP Georgy Mazurashu told parliament on Wednesday, calling the practice <em>\u201cbanditry\u201d<\/em> that must be stopped.<\/p>\n<p>According to the lawmaker, the press gangs are merely <em>\u201cchasing numbers\u201d<\/em> and forcing unwilling men into the military, which only fuels desertion.<\/p>\n<p>Mazurashu described one incident in the western Ukrainian city of Chernovtsy several weeks ago, when construction workers climbed into a cradle suspended between the third and fourth floors of a building to avoid being captured.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cFive dozen busificators, some wearing balaclavas, surrounded the construction site,\u201d<\/em> the MP said Wednesday, referring to the press gangs.<\/p>\n<p>The term \u2018busification\u2019 emerged in Ukraine as hundreds of videos have surfaced on social media showing military-age men being snatched off the streets, from workplaces, and from residential areas, then taken to recruitment centers in mini-buses against their will. We should not engage in banditry,\u201d<\/em> the lawmaker said, adding that forcing people into the army <em>\u201cfor the sake of numbers\u201d<\/em> would not work anyway since those people <em>\u201care obviously incapable of\u2026 fighting.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The local draft office in Chernovtsy rejected Mazurashu\u2019s accusations, claiming that no <em>\u201cillegal actions\u201d<\/em> had been committed by its staff members, adding that two men had been detained for <em>\u201cviolating the rules of military registration\u201d<\/em> at the time mentioned by the lawmaker.<\/p>\n<p>The accusations came just days after the Ukrainskaya Pravda media outlet reported that the number of complaints against draft officials filed with the parliamentary commissioner for human rights had reached nearly 12,000 since February 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine has faced chronic manpower shortages throughout the conflict with Russia amid high battlefield losses, extensive draft dodging, and desertion. Kiev barred nearly all adult men from leaving the country soon after it declared a general mobilization in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The recruitment drive has grown increasingly brutal over the years.
